The first part of Assignment One was outlined as follows in the Assessment page of the LMS at the University of Melbourne:
Set up your own online communication and portfolio webspace which will eventually include
- online journal of posts, comment and links to educational resources and digital items that are accessible to others in the subject for their own comment and feedback to you
In response to this requirement, I have listed below most of the links to various resources used while completing this part of the assignment.
- link to Edublogs OET Journal by Bill Oldham
- link from Edublogs to Geocities web site
- link from Geocities web site to (1) Google Goodies Word document, (2) Google Goodies PowerPoint presentation, (3) link to Blogger OET personal blog and (4) my email address for comments or questions.
- link from Blogger post to a demonstration of the amazing and incredible Kentucky Linking Rings from Youtube. This was a short video that I made and uploaded using Picasa to make the job even easier.
- link to OET discussion board. These will be hard to find because the link only takes you to the general area and you will have to fossick around a bit to find ond. Shouldn’t take long since there are heaps of them on the discussion board.
- one link to OET group blog and the comments received
- link to OET wiki where I created some pages for reflection for the first four weeks.
(2) Develop and deliver an online tutorial on one aspect (theory or practice) of online teaching and learning for other students in the subject
For the online tutorial part of the assignment, I have created a tutorial titled Google Goodies with the purpose of introducing my classes as well as other OET classmates to the advantages of using Google for most of their Web 2 tools. You will find the starting point for this at the post called Edublog Frustrations.
(3) Online report presenting comment, credit, references and links to a portfolio of resources for online teaching and learning
You’re looking at it!! this part will be continued in the next post which looks at some of the educational theory.
But to sum up this part of the report, I can say that creating, presenting, teaching and learning about Google Goodies has really helped my classroom ICT skills to improve.
